DVD Licensing Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I run a small not for profit club/group that is not affiliated with any business or institution. Do I need a license to show a film of yours to our members?
A: No, it's cool. Provided you aren't charging admission for the screening, or using any projection equipment a screening license isn't required.

Q: I run a small not for profit school/institution. Do I need a license to show/lend a film of yours to our members?
A: Yes. A license is required for school/institutional use.

Q: I run a small for profit business. Do I need a license to show a film of yours to a few of my employees?
A: Yes, a license is required for commercial use. The license would cover all employee screenings, as well as lending, provided you are not charging an admission for screening or a rentall fee for lending.

Q: How long does the license last?
A: The license terms are in effect for the life of the DVD. You may make a backup for archival purposes, however this copy may not be in use at the same time as another copy without purchasing an additional license.

Q: I've already bought the DVD, now I'd like to buy a license. I know the DVD is included with the license, but can you cut me a break and just send the license?
A: Yes. If you already have a copy of the DVD and would like to purchase only the license we will reduce the license fee to $75. Simply indicate this preference when you submit the paperwork.

Q: I know this is a license to lawfully screen your films to audiences, but is it also a license to kill?
A: No.
